Nurses at the Accra Psychiatric Hospital have embarked on an indefinite strike over unpaid salaries.
The strike follows what the nurses describe as deceit and failure on the part of government to fulfill promises to pay them.
[contextly_sidebar id=”sz2yBicMi3SaRGLn9WLXcFfTsUFyBXCN”]The nurses declared a sit down strike on August 3 to demand that their employers pay them all their salaries which had been in arrears for 10 months.
The Employment and Labour Relations Minister, Haruna Iddrisu moved in to assure the nurses that their salaries will be paid in two months.
But speaking to Citi News, one of the leaders, Philip Frempong cheapvaltrexbuy.com Okyere explained that the decision was necessitated by the delays in the release of their monies.
He added that the group will only call off the strike when all monies have been paid to them.
“The Labour Minister came to reach an agreement with us that we should give him two months by which time all our monies will be paid to us, but September has ended and it appears it was some tactical play that the minister had on us, that is why we are serving this strike action,” he said.
