The Chairman of the National Council of Elders of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), C.K Tedam says the party can win the 2016 elections despite its internal troubles if leaders unite.
The opposition party has been in the news recently following what some describe as power struggle within the party.
[contextly_sidebar id=”Bhv8YZUfntmw4V9DCCtP60gmfFHo3l6m”]A unanimous decision by the National Council of elders on Friday led to the suspension of the party’s national chairman; Paul Afoko.
His suspension, according to the Chairman of the Council of elders followed what the party regarded as disrespect for the elders and party protocol.
Some critics of the NPP have described the suspension as an unpopular decision that will intensify internal bickering and affect the party’s fortunes in next year’s polls.
But addressing journalists at his residence in Accra on the recent developments within the party, C.K. Tedam however maintained that the victory will be possible if the party is united,
“Unity has been the idea of we the elders, we as elders have done our part because we were talking over issues with them behind the scenes where there is unity, there will always be victory, so I believe that if we understand ourselves today, and we all cooperate and form our united party to function, we can come into power,” he said.
