A leading member of the National Reform Party , David Percy, has counselled the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) to replace its presidential candidate if it wants to win the 2016 elections instead of focusing its attention on a new voters’ register.
The NPP recently alleged that Ghana’s current voters’ register is bloated with names of foreign nationals.
[contextly_sidebar id=”zmo0FFQsPw079zjJgSIktqDZ85Ji3a3z”]The party’s Vice Presidential Candidate, Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia at a news conference alleged that about 80,000 Togolese nationals had their details in the register.
The party has since petitioned the EC with information available to them and are demanding a new register.
David Percy, who believes the party’s calls were borne out of their desire to win the 2016 elections at all cost, says the party might rather be successful in 2016 if it changes the presidential candidate.
“If the NPP is going to make any headway, I will say to them that they should change their candidate and forget this nonsense about the register which is completely a red-herring”.
Mr. Percy made these comments on Radio Gold’s current affairs programme, Alhaji and Alhaji.
Rise and Build tour ‘shaky’
Commenting on Nana Addo’s ‘Rise and Build Tour’, Mr. Percy said there is literally nothing to build because the foundation in his view is shaky.
“The foundation of the tour appears to be shaky. I don’t see how you can build when the foundation is unsure. At some level you can see it as an attempt to move the attention away from issues and to give the impression of purposefulness and unity but it does not exist” he stated.
Nana Addo began his ‘Rise and Build Tour’ a few weeks ago and has so far been to the Northern, Volta, Western, Central, Upper East and Upper West regions.
He has largely preached on the need for the party to be united for 2016 and asked Ghanaians to trust him to rebuild what he described as a broken economy.
