The National Democratic Congress (NDC) branch executives of the Maltiti Youth Association in the Tamale north constituency has petitioned the constituency executives challenging Radio Gold’s Alhassan Suhuyini’s candidature in the party’s November 7 parliamentary primaries.
[contextly_sidebar id=”NlVCtsp1FztR9xj6cmD7OTtGNBPyNXjP”]Alhassan Suhuyini is in the race with six other aspirants including a former Tamale North Member of Parliament, Alhaji Abubakari Sumani and the constituency Secretary, Mohammed Abdul Salam.
The Maltiti Branch Executives Youth Association’s Secretary, Mohammed Zakaria in a statement copied Citi News described Alhassan Suhuyini as an alien in the constituency.
“Under the national election laws, a candidate is supposed to hail from a constituency or live there for at least five years before he can contest: while in Tamale Suhuyini lived in Kukuo in Tamale south constituency before moving to Accra and we wonder why he has not considered contesting the Tamale South seat but rather Tamale north.”
Mohammed Zakaria admonished the constituency executives to disqualify Alhassan Suhuyini at the vetting.
Meanwhile, Alhassan Suhuyini has declined to comment on the matter.
He told Citi News in Tamale that his fate will be decided by the Tamale North constituency Electoral College at the primaries.
