Ghana’s Defense Minister, Dr. Benjamin Kumbour has bowed out of the November 7 Parliamentary primaries of the governing National Democratic (NDC).
Dr. Kumbour had earlier picked up forms to contest the Nandom constituency primaries in the Upper West Region where he is currently the incumbent MP.

He is yet to formally give reasons for his decision but sources close to the constituency party executives say, he stepped down to give way for young and upcoming politicians in that area.
Citi News can report that Dr. Kumbour is now backing the District Chief Executive (DCE) of the area, Cuthbert Baba Kunpiel.
By close of nominations on Thursday, 35 people out of the total number of thirty-nine (39) people had submitted nomination forms to contest in the various constituencies in the Upper West Region.
No major incident was recorded in any of the 11 constituencies except in the Jirapa constituency where a youth group almost prevented lawyer, Charles Puozung from submitting his nomination form.
The group accused him of not following party regulations and registering NPP members in The constituency.
