Inform Swansea City midfielder Andre Dede Ayew, is set to lead the Black Stars when they take on the Amavubi of Rwanda following Asamoah Gyan’s [substantive captain] fitness issues.
Ayew is making a return to the team after missing out in the Stars’ last two games against Togo and Mauritius respectively.
The 25-year-old is set to lead the Black Stars when they take on their Rwandan counterparts in their 2017 AFCON qualifiers in Kigali on Saturday.
In an interview on Sports Panorama on Cit FM on Friday, Spokesperson for the Ghana Football Association, Ibrahim Sanni Dara said Asamoah Gyan trained for just a few minutes with the team on Friday but pulled out of the session because of an injury.
“You can see my knee is swollen but it would all depend on the technical team,” Gyan exclusively told Citi FM’s sports reporter Rahman Osman who is with the team in Kigali.
The team doctors are yet to make a definitive statement on whether Gyan will play any part in the game yet.
“Lets wait and see what happens as things could change.” he said.
Ayew has been in blistering form for Swansea City where he has scored 3 goals in four games for the Wales side.
