Eighty employees of the judicial service have been identified in the investigative video by Anas Aremeyaw Anas, for playing various roles in the alleged bribery scandal.

A statement signed by the Judicial Secretary Justice Poku Acheampong on Friday September 18,  mentioned that fifteen of the persons captured in the exposé by Anas and his Tigereyepi team, are employees of the prisons service, the police and the Attorney-General’s Department.

According to the statement, the eighty judicial service staff would be investigated by two committees, one which will begin work on Tuesday September 23.

Meanwhile the names and photographs of the fifteen persons from the prisons, police and the AG’s department, are being forwarded to the relevant institutions for the necessary actions.

Two of the persons captured have also been identified as private ‘bail contractors’.

Meanwhile, the five-member Disciplinary Committee of the Judicial Council investigating the Circuit Court judges and magistrates indicted in the scandal,  suspended sitting after fourteen filed a motion in court challeging the process.

The hearing will resume after the final determination of the suit.

The statement further added that the Honourable Chief Justice is in the process of assessing if a prima facie case can be established against the High Court judges alleged to have misconducted themselves in the bribery scandal.

Out of the twelve who are in active service, eight have up to Tuesday September 22, to furnish the Chief Justice with their responses.

The statement says an appellate panel has also been constituted to hear all appeals and applications that may arise from the decisions of the High Court”, the statement added.
