The Acting Executive Director of the National Service Scheme (NSS), Dr Michael Kpessa-Whyte has hit hard at critics of the Urban Traffic Management module of the NSS describing such cynicism as not healthy for the development for the country.
[contextly_sidebar id=”Utk9uVSDupjwfb6FjwtEl2c7PZvvdNzl”]He hailed the concept of fresh graduates being sent unto the streets to direct the flow of traffic in Accra and Kumasi and said it would rekindle the spirit of patriotism and nationalism in Ghanaians beginning from graduates of the tertiary institutions in the country.
Speaking to Citi News at the passing out ceremony of 210 service persons that have undergone training at the National Police Academy, Dr. Kpessa-Whyte noted that the module will become attractive in no time.
“There is a lot of cynicism in this country and I think we should dispel it. In the police service there are lawyers, doctors, engineers and architects, they are Ghanaians like us and they are doing this for us. So are we saying that those who just finished our universities are better than them? I think we should rise above this cynicism and move forward as a nation,” he said.
All the 210 who passed out will be deployed effective 1st September and they will work under the supervision of the Motor Traffic and Transport Directorate of the Ghana Police Service.
