Speaking to Citi News at the one week commemoration of his passing, the late Numah’s mother in-law, Aba Kwansima described the manner in which her daughter learnt of the demise of his husband as painful saying “the painful part is that my daughter heard the news in far away USA before I did. She called to confirm but I denied it.”
She added that her daughter kept insisting that “she had seen pictures on social media.”
According to her a friend to the family later confirmed the incident to them.
According to Mr. Nuamah’s in-law such news which has the potential of causing serious emotional and psychological trauma to the bereaved family must be broken with caution.
She therefore urged social media users to desist from breaking such emotional news on their platforms before families are informed. She also called for a critical look into what is posted on social media.
Meanwhile burial for the late Samuel Nuamah is set for September 17th 2015. The funeral ceremony will be held at the State House and final interment at the Osu cemetery in Accra.
