The National Chairperson of the Convention People’s Party (CPP) Samia Yaba Nkrumah has observed that the solution for addressing the economic woes of Ghana is not the support from the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
Speaking to some media practitioners in Bolgatanga, during the Regional Congress of the party to elect regional executives, the National Chairperson of the party said what was needed to address the country’s problem was to strengthen the home grown economy.
[contextly_sidebar id=”ABEVMsDT10piDZun5qREbs07N0RilR78″]She said Ghana has all what it takes to make her self-reliant and stated that, the establishment of new local industries and revamping the old ones would help contribute significantly to addressing the issue.
“What Ghana needs is human centered development and to build upon its homegrown economy and not IMF. The country has the expertise to turn what it has for local consumption “, she indicated.
Ms Nkrumah stated that, when the CPP comes to power in 2016, it would revive all the defunct factories that were put up by Dr Kwame Nkrumah, the first President of the republic, including the Zuarungu Meat factory in the Upper East Region.
“What is needed is to continue to encourage all Ghanaians to consume what is produced in Ghana and not imported goods and we can make a positive advancement”, she noted.
She impressed upon all the party members, particularly the National and Regional Executives to continue to promote the ideology of the party, which is to complete the unfinished agenda of Dr Kwame Nkrumah.
Ms Nkrumah said the first President of Ghana concentrated a lot in the building of many local industries in the country, adding that, it contributed to the improvement of the livelihoods of many Ghanaians.
“The CPP will be committed to that cause when given the nod in the next general election by reactivating all the defunct factories and putting up new ones”, she stressed.
The National Chairperson indicated that there are also many prospects for the party and said many of the Nkrumahist, who left the party are now coming back.
“It has now also become clear to many Ghanaians that it is only the Nkrumahist party that can deliver them from the current economic woes”, Ms Nkrumah noted.
On the merger of the CPP and PNC, she said there would surely be a merger this time around at a planned National Congress to be held, to ensure that the party makes progress in the upcoming general election.
She urged all the Regional and constituency executives to remain united and to register for the electronic data base, which the party would soon outdoor for all members to register.
