The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has condemned the second lady, Mrs Matilda Amissah Arthur for chastising a headmistress who requested that her school be provided with basic teaching tools.
The Headmistress of the Kukurantumi Presby Primary School requested for these basic tools when the second lady visited the school to present some computers.
But she chided the headmistress and accused her of being ungrateful because government had done enough to make them comfortable.
[contextly_sidebar id=”JxWKtrT652VN8jcFAnWIiSYnaFqOphKu”]Speaking on Eyewitness News, the Eastern Regional Youth Organiser of the party Joseph Osei Poku said Mrs Amissah’s conduct showed “gross disrespect” to Ghanaians.
“Infact she showed gross disrespect to the people who were gathered there, the chiefs who were gathered there and even sort of insulted the intelligence of the Headmistress and the school.”
“Someone who is the second lady, the wife of the Vice President whose motorcade is being fuelled or funded by the tax payers money is not an ordinary person.”
Mr. Poku also dismissed claims that the NPP was taking advantage of the situation, saying “the NPP rather thinks about the ordinary Ghanaian and also cares about the future of Ghana’s education.”
Meanwhile the second Vice Chair of the NPP in the Eastern Region, Nana Afredu Agyemang has also criticized the second’s lady’s conduct saying it exposes the National Democratic Congress (NDC) agenda.
He posited that the party’s criticisms against her applies enough since the requirements of government is to “ensure that schools get chalks.’
“ Ghanaians cannot be taken for a ride and what has happened has exposed the agenda of the NDC government and his team. They told Ghanaians that school children deserve to have school uniforms. I think our criticisms apply enough.”
