The Minority Spokesperson on Defense and Interior, William Boafo has asked asking President John Dramani Mahama to re-assign his Interior Minister Mark Woyongo over his “violence begets violence” comment.
The Interior Minister has come under fire following his comment relating to the violence that marred the Talensi bye election on Tuesday.

“I will suggest that the President should find another ministry for him. He is a good ministerial material but maybe not for where he is now as a result of the unfortunate casual remarks that he made,” he explained.
Meanwhile, Pressure group, Movement for Change has also asked President John Mahama to sack Mark Woyongo over the said comment to justify the violent clashes that charaterised the by-election.
A statement from the Movement of Change, said the comments from the minister “clearly displayed that he is no lover of peace. Such an individual cannot and should not be trusted with a highly sensitive Ministry like that of the Interior.”
The Northern Regional Chairman of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bugri Naabu has said Mark Woyongo has outlived his usefulness in office.
According to him, Mark Woyongo’s comment has exposed his ineptitude.
“I condemn what happened in Talensi as the regional Chairman for Northern Region and I also condemn the Minister for Interior, Mr. Mark Woyongo: I was so disappointed and I wasn’t happy to hear this come out from the minister’s mouth,” he added.
