Ghana international Harrison Afful has revealed that Asante Kotoko midfielder Jordan Opoku was a key part of his career success so far.
Afful is a free agent after seeing out his contract with Tunisian giants Esperance where he played for six seasons.
The former Asante Kotoko man helped the Blood and Gold to win the CAF Champions League in 2011 and five Tunisian League titles.
Before that, Afful also won the Ghanaian league title with Asante Kotoko and he tells Citi Sports in an exclusive interview that Jordan Opoku pointed him in the direction of the Porcupine Warriors.
“I remember one day I had a call from Jordan Opoku and he asked if I would love to play for Kotoko. My first expressions were that, ‘brother, that is a big club you are talking about. Moreover, I have never played in the top flight league before’
“All he said was that I am going to help you get there and that was it.”
One the international level, Afful has also been to five African Cup of Nations competitions and has been a losing finalists on two occasions in 2010 and 2015 and he was also a member of Ghana’s World Cup team in Brazil.
