Gas leakage at a filling station at Ntwaaban in the Western Region caused heavy vehicular traffic on that stretch of road in the Western Region.
Vehicles coming from Sekondi Takoradi were unable to move beyond the Police barrier.
Around 6:30 am on Wednesday, a gas tanker was discharging fuel at a filling station but in the process, it started leaking.
Hundreds of workers were stranded, while a few others alighted from their vehicles and walkied to their destination.
About 50 Police officers arrived to ease the traffic congestion.
It caused a pungent smell in the atmosphere and residents began to panic and feared there could be a possible fire outbreak.
The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) was called in to avert the situation.
The GNFS led by DO3 Fiifi Sagoe with assistance from the Police have been able to stop the leakage too.
