A rainy Thursday left residents of Esienimpong in the Ejisu Juabeng Municipality in the Ashanti Region wailing, after a mother and her 5-year-old were crushed to death under the weight of a collapsed building.
Two others also sustained injuries and are currently receiving treatment at the Ejisu Government hospital.
Narrating the incident to Citi News, an eyewitness Adwoa Mary said the deceased and her family were seeking shelter when the rain started pouring in and rather met their untimely death.
“The house of Amalia is very old so when the wind got stronger, she decided to run to a neighbor’s house but unfortunately when she reached the building all we heard was a sudden strong unusual sound, by the time we got here, she was already dead,” she narrated.
The lifeless bodies of the mother and the 5-year-old girl have since been deposited at the hospital mortuary awaiting autopsy while Police commence investigations into the matter.
