Voting in the Talensi by-election has officially ended in the Upper East Region and counting of the ballots is presently ongoing.
The voting exercise was characterized by acts of violence which were allegedly perpetrated by some National Democratic Congress (NDC) and New Patriotic Party (NPP) youth.
The First Vice Chairman of the NPP was attacked and some persons sustained various degrees of injuries while vehicles and some properties were vandalized but the personnel from the Police Service and the Military intervened to maintain calm and order.
The people of Talensi voted to choose a new Member of Parliament (MP) to replace their ex-legislator who has now been enskinned the Paramount Chief of the area.
