Bimbila schools shut down over recent killings

Some schools in Bimbila Township have temporarily been shut-down as a result of the recent clashes that left about 19 people dead.

Authorities of the Ghana Education Service ordered the closure of the schools after the shooting incident started in the area.

The Nanumba North District is already grappling with falling educational standards.

A former District Chief Executive for the Nanumba North District, Salifu Saeed alias SS in a Citi News interview described the situation as totally unacceptable.

“Now all schools in Bimbila Township have been closed: children want to go to school, education is key.”
He also bemoaned that the situation had adversely affected economic activities.

“Women cannot go about their businesses: I want to appeal to my people, please you cannot come out to fight among yourselves and claim victory.”

As a former Chairman of the District Security Committee, Salifu Saeed admonished the security operatives to place premium on early warning signals.

“I want to also appeal to the security to take early warning signals in the area very seriously because this is an area that has suffered intermittent conflicts since 81: so the potentials of the people living within that area to come out and fight among themselves and cause destruction to lives and property is very huge.”
