The voting exercise was characterized by acts of violence which were allegedly perpetrated by some NDC and NPP youth.
Both the NDC and the NPP had also accused each other of sharing monies and other goodies ahead of the polls.
The Talensi seat became vacant after the incumbent NPP MP, Robert Nachinab Doameng Mosore resigned to take up the position of a paramount chief of Tongo.
Talensi has been a safe seat for the governing NDC since 1992 but it was taken over by the NPP in the 2012 election.
