The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Chairman for the Efutu Constituency in the Central Region, Lawrence Paa Nii Lamptey has stated that the incumbent Member of Parliament (MP) for the constituency, Alex Afenyo Markin filed a suit against him because he was afraid of losing his seat in the 2016 elections.
He said the lawmaker has veered off his main mandate and has resorted to only criticising his main opponents who have intentions of developing the area.

He will stop critcising people then rather he will concentrate on his constituency. We are going to take him off the seat. The seat is not for him. He spends about 95 % of his time filing cases, criticising people, chasing people etc.”
He made the comments while responding to a suit filed by Afenyo Markin.
The Supreme Court on Wednesday cleared the NDC Chairman, who is a worker with the Ghana Education service to engage in partisan politics.
The ruling follows a suit brought before the court challenging the eligibility of the NDC chairman and others who work with the Ghana Highway Authority and the Ghana Education Service (GES).
In the writ, Mr Markin alleged that Paa Nii Lamptey, who works with the Ghana Highways Authority and an administrative officer with the Swedru Senior High School, Ernestina Yawson were contesting for the Chairmanship and Secretary positions respectively in the NDC and should not be allowed to actively participate in the exercise.
