Government has denied media reports that the Finance Minister, Seth Terkper has been removed from his position.
Media reports on Wednesday suggested that the Minister has been removed and is likely to be replaced by the immediate past Chief Executive Officer of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), Sylvester Mensah.
This came on the back of an ongoing reshuffling of some heads of public institutions and departments.
However, in a post on his Facebook page, the Minister of Communication, Dr. Edward Omane Boamah said: “The Finance Minister, Seth Terkper has not been reshuffled. His position is intact…”
The Minister thus advised the general public to ignore any rumour indicating otherwise.
In 2014, the President revealed that some members of government were pressurizing him to fire Mr. Terkper over his many reforms at the Finance Ministry.
“I mean several times they’ve interceded with me to sack Seth because he’s hurting the politics. He doesn’t understand the politics,” he added.
Some were also pushing for his dismissal following the unresolved challenges facing the country’s economy.
