As part of efforts to put smiles on the faces of the June 3 disaster victims, Rotaract Ghana has donated relief items worth GHC 4, 000 to support the Citi FM and Metro TV campaign.
The items included bags of rice, toiletries, bowls and clothing.
The group embarked on the project as part of their community service.
Following the flood and fire disaster on June 3, Citi FM and Metro TV launched a campaign to solicit for relief items to support persons in the capital who were affected by the floods.
The first campaign was held at the Odawna Sahara area at Adabraka where the residents were supplied with potable water, food items, toiletries and further benefited from free medical screening.
The National Public Relations Officer of Rotaract Ghana, Ekow Quandzie in an interview with Citi News commended Citi FM and Metro TV for initiating the campaign.
“It’s a laudable one and I am sure you did your homework very well to analyze and know the exact people who needed support. We’ve been able to mobilize GHC 4,000 and I am sure there are other groups who can also mobilize such funds,” he said.
He however suggested that a long-term fund be set up to support disaster victims.
