President John Dramani Mahama on Wednesday inspected two major health facilities under construction in Accra.
The projects are a 600-bed capacity project for the University of Ghana Teaching Hospital and a 640-bed capacity facility for the Ridge Hospital.
The University of Ghana Teaching Hospital will cost about $217 million.
Addressing staff of the Ridge Hospital and workers at the site, President Mahama stated that the health facility is currently in its first phase adding that the phase two will commence soon.
President Mahama said government has invested over $1.5 billion in the health sector.
He stated that the Ridge Hospital project will among other things improve maternal health in the country adding that the project after completion will have 28 delivery wards.
