B.T Baba has been elected by delegates of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Talensi as the party’s parliamentary candidate for the by-election in July.
Baba,a 67-year-old retired prisons officer and former chairman of Ghana Olympics committee, defeated four other candidates by polling 351 votes, 86 more than his closest competitor, Edward Awunnore.
Charles Boazor polled 53 votes while James Atore and Rockson Aditiba failed to garner more than 8 votes between them.
Baba will now face off against Thomas Duanab Wuni, who was declared winner of the NPP‘s primaries earlier on Sunday.
The by-election to vote in a new MP for Talensi is scheduled for July 7.
The elections became necessary following the enskinment of the former Talensi MP, Robert Nachineb Doameng as the Paramount chief of Talensi and his subsequent resignation from Parliament.
