An Ashfoam depot located near the Achimota new station in Accra caught fire on Tuesday.
The fire which began around 11 am completely destroyed the shop and its content worth millions of Ghana cedis
The cause of the fire is unknown, but personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) who arrived at the scene were able to put out the fire which was spreading to a nearby Shell filling station.
The Officer in Charge of the Legon Fire Station, Gilbert Tetteh Sangmor in an interview with Citi News said: “We cannot tell the cause of the fire now. “
“It will be after our preliminary investigations before we will be able to tell the public the cause of the fire. For now we are doing salvaging. We are lucky, because we were able to put the fire out before it could spread to the nearby filling station. It is full of lubricants and other highly inflammable petroleum products. We thank the Achimota Police for their support,”
