The President of Sierra Leone, Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma has sacked his Vice president, Samuel Sam Sumana.
This was announced in a press release.
[contextly_sidebar id=”GqELRKTX3yseW8UMfUZmamQrxfB3hCnn”]The president in the press release said he took the decision based on section 41b act 6 of their 1991 Constitution.
He continued to state that the name of another vice president will be announced shortly.
Samuel Sam-Sumana was last week expelled from the ruling party, All People’s Congress, for several reasons including allegations that he presented a fake Master’s degree certificate.
He has also been accused of “orchestrating political violence” and trying to form a new party in his home district of Kono.
Sierra Leone Veep seeks asylum in US embassy
Samuel Sam-Sumana on March 14, sought political asylum from the United States embassy after soldiers reportedly circled his residence.
He told the AP news agency by phone that he didn’t “feel safe…as vice-president” and revealed that he had spoken to US Ambassador John Hoover and was waiting for a response.
