[contextly_sidebar id=”QbuG3YbeVvSYlShs5GgeVQfxhwKgpRQL”]The Coca Cola Bottling Company has announced plans to lay off about 211 workers citing the current power challenges and the harsh forex market as part of their reasons for the action.
The workers are expected to be laid off by April 30.
Speaking to Citi News the General Secretary of the ICU Solomon Kotei said the union for the past two days are in talks with the management of the company to reach an agreement on the severance package for the affected workers.
“The number is 211 and it will be done in two phases, one on 31st March and other on April 30 and so by then all of them would have been gone,”he stated.
He attributed the laying off of the workers to the current power challenges and the harsh forex market since “a lot of their materials are imported.”
