Tudu is a very important commercial area in Accra. It is arguably the most prominent, due to its location and the brisk business that goes on there.
Tudu was founded in 1908 as a result of the outbreak of the Bubonic plague, by the British.

Early settlers of Tudu consisted of the Yuroba. They were later joined by others including Lebanese, Hausa, Akyem, Ga etc, when it grew in commercial relevance.
Dr Samuel Ntewusu, a research fellow and lecturer at the University of Ghana, explains how TUDU was founded and how things have changed from 1908 till now.
