Mfantsipim School was established on April 3, 1876, making it the first secondary school to be established in the Gold Coast, now Ghana.
Key among Mfantsipim’s alumni are Kofi Annan, Nobel Prize winner and former Secretary-General of the United Nations; Kofi Abrefa Busia, former prime minister of Ghana; Alex Quaison-Sackey, former head of the UN General Assembly and Ghana’s current vice president, Paa Kwesi Amissah-Arthur.
