An international construction and engineering company called Group Five Structured Ingenuity is promising to build 1,000 affordable housing units in the Northern Region.

He exclusively divulged this to Citi News on the sidelines at the SADA 2015 Business and Investment Forum held in Tamale on the theme, “Engineering opportunities and shared prosperity in the Savannah Region of Ghana.”
He said plans were afoot to invest in the housing sector in the Northern Region if only chiefs in the area were ready to release lands for the project.
“We are looking at affordable housing in the north to start with and we want people to bring forward land and we are willing to raise financing to be able to put up this affordable housing.”
“In terms of what we are bringing to the north, the construction period will provide jobs for the people,” he disclosed.
Aminu Mbanba Alhassan said a retail centre would be established in Tamale to afford the land owners the opportunity to strike a deal with the company.
Commenting on the erratic power supply, he said the company would position itself as a strategic partner with SADA management to produce solar energy.
“We are looking ahead to partner with SADA in terms of providing power for the northern sector: we have abundant sunshine in the north and we believe that we can turn this sunshine into power for the people of the north.”
“We can also partner with SADA to turn the many dams we have in the region into hydro.”
According to him, the company which is headquartered in South Africa has existed in Ghana for 18 years with its prime focus on the mining industry.
