Computer Warehouse Group (CWG) Ghana has rewarded Lydia Dugbakuor Akuaku, the 2013/14 best graduating student of the Computer Science Department, University of Ghana, Legon.
Ms. Akuaku, who graduated with a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 3.51, beat over 50 students to win the coveted award.
Country Manager of CWG Ghana, Harriet Yartey said the choice to support IT education annually is steeped in the company’s belief in rewarding hardwork, endorsing intellectual development and upholding qualitative education across the locations where the company operates in Africa.
This initiative is part of the company’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme to promote excellence in academic pursuit and supporting technologically driven society.
“We nurture excellence within our system and are very particular about doing whatever we do to the best standard of excellence, the first time and at all times. Our premium on quality workforce explains our emphasis on quality education,” She said.
Mrs. Yartey added that education ultimately offers young people the best opportunity in life to realize their dreams and become the leaders of tomorrow.
In response, Ms. Akuaku expressed her gratitude to CWG and several others who have supported her to achieve this feat.
“They have made me feel that my efforts have paid off and I believe this will motivate me to excel and do my utmost best in everything I do.”
