MTN maintained its recovery drive to emerge as the fastest growing telco in 2014.
It gained close to 186,000 new subscribers, the highest to end the year.
This is according to the market share report from the National Communications Authority (NCA) for the month of December 2014.
MTN’s voice subscriber base now stands at a little above 13.8million during the period under review representing a 1.36% growth.
MTN now holds around 45.63% of the market share.
Generally, the number of voice subscribers grew by over 141,000 measuring a little below 1%.
Mobile Phone penetration in Ghana currently stands at about 113.37%.
Total voice subscribers for the year ending hit a little above 30,000,000 with a population of about 26.7million people which means mobile voice subscriber base grew by 0.47%.
Glo recovered from the loses it made in November 2014 and followed MTN in the growth race.

With a little above 1.4million subscribers, Glo now commands a market share of 4.78%.
Tigo this time round followed Glo gaining 13,588 subscribers moving its base by 0.82%.
However, their market share for December, 2014 was 13.62%, a marginal dip from the previous month’s figure of 13.57%
On the other hand the rest of the telcos saw declines in their subscriber base.
Airtel which commands a little above 3.7 million subscribers in the market lost some 21,000 subscribers in December 2014 representing a decrease of 0.56% in their base.
Airtel’s market share now stands at 12.30%.
Expresso in the month of December 2014 lost 1,608 subscribers after it had made some gains of a little above 120,000 subscribers in November 2014.
This pushed its subscriber base down to about 1.94%.
Expresso now holds about 0.39% of the market share.
Vodafone was the biggest loser, losing some 67,985 subscribers, leading to a drop in its subscriber base by 0.95%.
Vodafone now holds about 22.29% of the total market share which is represents a little below 7million subscribers.
