The President of the think thank, IMANI Ghana, Franklin Cudjoe likened government’s planning for development projects to the actions of the cartoon character “Captain Planet.”

“Government also makes it appear as if it is captain planet. It has to do everything. All the references to roads, every little hamlet has got a borehole and it has to be mentioned. These things are even done by the worst form of governments because it has propaganda value,” he stated.
Franklin Cudjoe, who was speaking on Citi FM‘s The Big Issue on Saturday, said the Government’s constant reminders of the projects it is undertaking was unnecessary.
He explained that it was incumbent on every government to improve infrastructure and added that “any government has to construct some road and some pathway.”
Speaking on the state of the nation address by the president, Franklin Cudjoe advised government to focus more on transformational programmes such as a national identification system.
“The big transformational issues, for instance like the national ID system which by now should be in vogue and not have all kinds of organisations doing theirs is a very important matter,” he explained.
While admitting that the President’s speech to the nation was beautifully written, Franklin Cudjoe stated that “there was nothing transformational about the speech.”
