Ghana is currently in talks with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) as part of efforts to establish a Country Mining Vision-CMV for the mining sector

Once discussions are concluded for the implementation of the CMV, major reforms such as job creation, dividend payment and infrastructural development will be seen in Ghana’s mining sector
“The Key objective of the African Mining Vision is to ensure that the sector provides dividends and socio economic opportunities for the country while creating chances for job creation and development to promote developmental mining,’’ said Valerio Bosco, Mineral Sector Governance Advisor at the African Minerals Development Centre.
On his part, the Minister for Lands and Natural Resouces, Nii Osah Mills told Citi Business News, they are currently engaging with the relevant stakeholders to get the CMV implemented following a directive by the AU for all African Countries to establish their respective Country Mining Vision.
“It doesn’t mean that we are going to change our laws as such but each country will still have their own mining laws but those laws will have to be tweaked as much as they can in line with the broader African Mining Vision-AMV which the AU has espoused,” said Nii Osah Mills
