The Chief Executive Officer of the Consumer Protection Agency, a consumer right agency, Kofi Capito has accused the government of preventing the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) from making their load shedding timetable public.

[contextly_sidebar id=”s1wBsgmzsrYhnjduHEsFBw7MKIwmpUha”]Speaking to Citi News, Kofi Capito said government is afraid of the reaction of Ghanaians to such schedule hence the decision to stop the ECG from publishing the load shedding schedule.

“I will be honest with you ECG has a timetable. I am aware that policy makers don’t want the public to know about the timetable. We know they have started using that unofficial timetable and officially you and I do not know about that timetable. Because somebody, a policymaker, or government, or minister or regulator is afraid to talk about it,” he added.

Some consumers over the past few weeks have complained about the failure of the ECG to publish a load shedding timetable to help them plan.

“ECG doesn’t have the generation and it is about the generation of electricity. If someone is unable to tell them that is how much I have on a daily basis or an hourly basis how do you want them to communicate to you so you plan,” he questioned.
