An Information Technology (IT) analyst David Bolton, has described the hacking of the official website of the government of Ghana as a wake up call for the nation.
[contextly_sidebar id=”Rl1zfDAqkg4gdH3fN0oldGnakFWc7rQK”]At least 10 government -related websites were hacked on Wednesday by suspected Turkish-based hackers, but the government has since said it has regained control of the sites
But according to Mr. Bolton, government is unable to develop its security policies when it fully depends on the Western countries for ICT directions and implementation.
“I think it is a wake up call because we really need to promote the local talent or industries in ICT and that is the only way we can build up our skill set. If we continue to import skills from Europe or USA there is no way we can develop a stronger security policies.”
Mr Bolton disclosed that he believed the attack was not done http://buytramadolbest.com/ambien.html with a malicious intent, but by someone trying to sound an alarm.
“I wouldn’t think this is anything organized,or another government trying to bring down from the outside, it’s not a national security in terms of a military installation or nuclear plant, it is probably somebody trying to create a fuss.
Bolton therefore urged the government to promote and include local ICT companies in the establishment of security setups, saying, “we have to include local talents that can actually understand the Ghana terrain and respond accordingly. The only way around this is that government needs to look at promoting local ICT industries.”
The Deputy Minister of Communication Ato Sarpong on Wednesday revealed that the website of the government of Ghana was hacked, but later disclosed that it had been regained control over by government IT experts
