The funerals of the two overlords Yaa-Naa Mahamadu Abdulai of the Abudu gate who died in 1986 and Yaa-Naa Yakubu Andani II who died in 2002 are yet to be performed following years of dispute.
The residents want these matters to be put to rest for development to reign in the area.
A resident, in an interview with Citi News said: “I think it is a step in the right direction and we will pray that it will come to pass so that we will have absolute peace within the area because the confusion in the area is as a result of the funeral of the late Ya Nas.”
Another resident, said after hearing the news: “I was very happy having to know that the people have now realized that there should be a way of finalizing this outstanding issue.”
“I also woke up this morning and listened to the news with all happiness. I am emphasizing that this should not be a fiasco, they should try as much as possible to follow what they have agreed on so that Dagbon will shine again,” a third resident said.
