An Accra magistrate court has adjourned the rape case against Ace broadcaster Kwesi Kyei Darkwa (KKD) to February 5, 2015.
The adjournment was at the request of lawyers for KKD who said prosecution served them with the bill of indictment only on Thursday morning, though the court adjourned the case last week.
[contextly_sidebar id=”0lFZfWvcZCuiDrOoaww9yqyf1jbajoqu”]Responding to the issue, senior State Prosecution, ACP Attimbilla told the court they only finished with the processes on Wednesday and went ahead to file it at the high court hence the delay in making the information available to the defendants.
The court therefore adjourned the case to pave way for the establishment of committal after which full trail will begin.
The 19-year-old girl who accused KKD of rape, wrote to the court on January 13, stating that she was no longer interested in continuing with the case citing the “media frenzy” and social media posts as reasons for her decision.
The Police subsequently forwarded the letter to the Attorney General (AG) for advice.
Meanwhile, the AG said it will pursue the rape charges despite the victim’s request to discontinue the case
