Following concerns raised by the chiefs and people of Asogli in the Ho municipality, the Inspector General of Police Mr Mohammed Ahmed Alhassan paid a working visit to the area to assess the situation and allay the fears of the people.
[contextly_sidebar id=”1lxlLDjXKYGaXeYcE50czbApuMYAPLJW”]The working visit which coincided with a forum organised by the Volta regional Security Council to discuss security issues in the Municipality and develop new strategies.
The IGP reassured residents of Ho of frantic efforts being put in place to curb the tackle crime in the area.
He said additional police personnel have been deployed to the area to beef up security and intensify surveillance.
Mr Mohammed Alhassan disclosed to Citi News that new police stations would be established at vantage points in the municipality.
Additionally security tents would be mounted at isolated areas which include Goshen City, Mawuli Estates and Area 52.
Along with the measures, the police administration would recruit able men in the communities to form vigilante groups.
“My visit here today is to assess the situation on the ground so we can re-strategize measures to clamp down activities of the criminals,” he added.
Meanwhile the deputy Volta Regional Minister Hon Francis Ganyaglo commended the police for the urgency they have attached to the situation.
He appealed to citizens to volunteer information to the police to help fight crime.
In a related development the police on Monday in Ho after a swoop conducted paraded about 19 suspected criminal for public identification.
The suspected criminals were picked from their hide-outs at some crime flash points..
The angry Asogli chief threatened to take their safety into their own hands after they expressed concerns over the spate of criminal activities in the area.
