A number of US cinemas have said they will screen Sony film The Interview on Christmas Day.
The move comes just a week after the film company cancelled the release of the movie after suffering a devastating cyber attack.
Sony are expected to announce plans for a limited release of the film, a comedy about a plot to assassinate North Korean leader Kim Jong-un.
Two movie houses in Atlanta and Austin have already revealed screenings.
They said via social media that Sony Pictures has authorised them to show the film, which has caused escalating tension between the US and North Korea.
The US has blamed North Korea for the Sony hack, which has led to sensitive data and unreleased film material being leaked.
Sony announced that The Interview would be pulled completely from release in the wake of threats against cinema chains who planned to screen the film, which stars James Franco and Seth Rogen.
There is also speculation that Sony will offer the movie as video on-demand (VOD) as part of the limited release package.
