Avram Grant is expected to shock Ghanaians with new faces for the country’s Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) squad. Grant has already given his list to the Ghana FA but it has yet to be released.
Many youngsters are speculated to be handed their first senior calls.
Bernard Mensah (Vitoria Guimares), John Antwi (Ismaily SC), Daniel Amartey (FC Copenhagen), Enoch Adu Kofi (Malmo FF) and Almeria’s Thomas Partey are believed to be among the new faces that will make the squad.
Samuel Inkoom and Ernest Sowah have also been tipped for a return.
There will be no Sulley Muntari, Michael Essien or Kevin-Prince Boateng. Head coach Avram Grant is scheduled to arrive from his player-monitoring tour abroad on December 28.
Sources say that he will be accompanied by a new physical trainer who will be working on the fitness of the squad ahead of the Afcon.
A good number of the Black Stars squad play in the Scandinavia and have been quite inactive since they ended their seasons a couple of months ago.
Grant has already submitted a 31-man squad to the Ghana FA and it is understood that he could drop 5 players before the team departs for their camping base.
