The Northern regional police have increased its presence at the residence of a former National Chairman aspirant of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Alhaji Hudu Yahaya following attempts by some residents in the area to burn down his house.
Speaking on Eyewitness News, the Northern Regional Police, Spokesperson ASP Ebenezer Tetteh Police in the area said the Police have intensified security in the area to avert mayhem.
[contextly_sidebar id=”7Ik0RWj7kCXIiIPXCzIGV0J4Ea1M4PnU”]“On Saturday we picked out intelligence information that some persons were preparing to burn the house of Huddu Yayah, so we quickly responded to by sending some men to his private residence and his area, “he said.
He disclosed that the matter is currently being investigated, adding that there has been no reason assigned to the alleged incident
“We don’t know their problem .All we know was that they were going to set the facility ablaze and we are trying to apprehend the particular people who are behind this particular threat, “ he said.
He further stated that Police in the area will be on guard until calm is restored.
“We will continue to maintain the men there. Anybody who comes closer to doing that what we have heard will be apprehended and the law will be applied.”
Mr Yahaya who was amongst candidates vying for the position of National Chairman of the governing National Democratic Congress, (NDC).
Alhaji Huudu Yahaya withdrew from the race and threw his weight behind Kofi Portuphy, the NADMO Boss. He did not give reasons for his withdrawal.
His withdrawal has reportedly angered many in Tamale who say he has betrayed them.
