According to ASP Tenge, the building collapsed around 11:30pm last night when the victims were working at the site.
“Yesterday around 11:30pm the police had information that there was a collapsed building around Akai House so immediately the police dispatched men to the scene,” she stated.
She added that twelve persons were immediately sent to the Police Hospital and the 37 military hospital respectively for treatment “but six of them have been treated and discharged”.
However one person is still believed to be trapped and security personnel are currently making efforts to rescue the person.
“We suspect that there is one person under the rubble and there is a team of security personnel who are here to ensure that that one person under the rubble is rescued,” she added.
ASP Tenge said investigations are still ongoing to ascertain the cause of the incident.
