The President of Zimbabwe, Robert Mugabe has dismissed his Vice President, Joyce Mujuru and seven other government Ministers accused of plotting to oust him.
This was revealed by the Chief Secretary to the Presidency and Cabinet Dr Misheck Sibanda.
According to them, Mujuru was fired because of her conflicts of interest and inconsistent behaviour with laid down standards.
But there have also been conflicting reports that Mugabe is staging a personal attack against Mujuru to promote his own interest and that of his wife.
Expelled Zanu-PF member Rugare Gumbo recently told the BBC the 90-year-old leader had “completely” turned the party into his “personal property”.
[contextly_sidebar id=”y8zbKk4KjFNmvgSrs7XNhYiMJavffOjC”]The former Zanu PF member said Mugabe had targeted Mrs Mujuru to advance the “fortunes” of his wife Grace.
Reports indicate that Mujuru and the other cabinet ministers were sacked in a Cabinet reshuffle.
The decision to dismiss Mujuru comes days after she was publicly reprimanded.
Mugabe denounced her before party loyalists and described her as a leader of a “treacherous cabal” bent on removing him from power.
Mujuru was earlier barred by the Zanu-PF party from serving on its powerful central committee.
Meanwhile Mujuru has refused to comment on the allegations levelled against her by Mugabe.
Her only response during a three-month campaign against her by state media and Mugabe’s 49-year-old wife, Grace, has been a short written statement in which she has denied allegations of corruption and plotting an assassination attempt.
