An aspirant Deputy General Secretary of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) has described those working to pull him down as a “disgrace to democracy.”
[contextly_sidebar id=”kxHcCPQMnASMuVW85MxNroNMtNQtjZBx”]According to him, he, Kofi Adams (aspiring National Organizer) and the aspiring treasurer of the NDC, have been victimized by some influential persons in the party, a situation he said does not auger well for their party.
Speaking on Eyewitness News, George Lawson who is also an incumbent NDC’s Deputy General Secretary said, “there are some very ungrateful hearts who are going around trying to malign myself, Kofi Adams and the national treasurer.”
He was angry and questioned why “those people doing so are not contesting their positions,” yet trying to sabotage them.
“It’s absurd, it’s very shameful for leaders in the party to act that way,” he fumed.
When asked to mention names of the supposed detractors, George Lawson insisted that, “they know themselves….They are disgrace to democracy. They are making it look like a joke and this is not a comic relief. They are going around destroying us. We have done nothing to them.”
In a related development, Kofi Adams, an aspiring National Organizer of the NDC has described as “cheap and defeatist,” allegations that he has been collaborating with the flag bearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Akufo Addo and members of the Alliance for Accountable Governance (AFAG) at the expense of his party.
Meanwhile, the over 4,000 delegates of the NDC will convene in Kumasi in the Ashanti Region on Saturday December 20, to elect their national executives.
The NDC’s has however expressed readiness to host the congress peacefully.
