The Minister for Water Resources, Works and Housing, Alhaji Collins Dauda has given the assurance that the challenges impeding the efficiency of the Kpong Water Project will soon be resolved.
He explained that the commissioning of the project was to enable the detection of faults in the water system and solve them as soon as possible.
He said “that is the reason why even though the capacity of the plant that was commissioned is 40 million gallons of water a day, we decided to push only 20 million out of the 40.”

President John Mahama inaugurated the project about a week ago to enable residents in Adenta and parts of the Greater Accra and Eastern regions that hitherto had difficulty in accessing potable water to benefit from the project.
When finally completed, the projected is expected to pump about 40 million gallons of water per day to solve the perennial water shortage in Adenta and its environs.
But so far, some beneficiary communities are yet to have water flow through their taps; a situation which has been attributed to several challenges including broken and rusted pipelines.
Collins Dauda stated that “the exercise that the President carried out last week is intended to detect these weaknesses and correct them before the additional 20 is brought onboard,” adding that, his outfit will soon announce a toll free number to enable citizens report problem areas for rectification.
On issue about consumers illegally diverting water to their homes, Collins Dauda said: “We are not aware” but appealed to the public to volunteer information on such issues.
