Two people are reported dead and three others injured in Abelia Kofe a suburb of Aflao in the Volta region following an armed robbery attack on some traders in the area.
The two were allegedly shot by unknown assailants at their residence.
[contextly_sidebar id=”ysd7o5xvJeqkq7N79ULjPNX65BuwGSwS”] A youth leader in the town Seth Abelai in an interview with Citi News said residents heard sporadic gunshots at dawn but were afraid to find out where the gunshots were emanating from.
The police were later called to convey the bodies of the deceased and the injured to the Ketu South District Hospital.
The Volta Regional Police Crime Officer Chief Superintendent Kofi Abraham who confirmed the incident to Citi News said “five armed robbers, attacked the residents in the area and in the process, …killed two people.”
He said investigations are underway to apprehend the pertrators of the crime.
“We are yet to investigate to find out the true details . The other wounded persons are Issifu Smaila.”
The region has recorded a number of shooting incidents including clashes between the Alavanyo and Nkonya towns.
A recent incident between the two communities left one person and another critically injured.
