The Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) in the Volta Region are calling on the President to provide them with adequate security in the discharge of their duties.
The call follows the murder of the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Nkwanta South, Peter Kojo Kenyeso at his residency on Monday evening.
The police in the region are currently on the hunt for the DCE’s killers.

Addressing a news conference on Tuesday on behalf of his colleagues, DCE for Agortime Ziope, Michael Komla Adjaho insisted that security must be increased.
“We wish to appeal to his Excellency the president of Ghana through the Volta Regional Minister to consider providing adequate security to all MMDCEs nationwide in the discharge of their duty,” he said.
He however condemned the act saying that “we the MMDCEs of the Volta Region have learned with shock and utter dismay the gruesome murder of our colleague and brother…at his residence by unknown gunmen. While we mourn him, we wished to unreservedly condemn this cowardly and barbaric act which has thrown all of us into a state of insecurity.”
He used the opportunity to console the family of the deceased DCE adding that “we register our deepest regret at the murder of our colleague who has died in the service of his community and mother Ghana. May his soul have eternal rest.”
