Hundreds of passengers are stranded following an unannounced closure of a bridge linking Akim Oda and Aboabo in the Eastern Region for construction works.
The angry passengers and drivers say they were not notified prior to the closure of the bridge.
A stranded passenger in an interview with Citi News complained about the situation saying, “they didn’t tell us anything. The only thing they told us is that it will take about three to four days for them to finish the work.”
A resident in the area also told Citi News, vehicles traveling from Accra to Oda are stranded at the other side of town.
He stated that neither residents nor passengers were informed about the impending rehabilitation works.
“We just got up this morning to realize that there is actually a manhole and it’s taken over four months for it to be fixed so there are site engineers and people working on it,” he said.
He said his personal interactions with the site engineer revealed that the rehabilitation works will be completed within a period of two days “but looking at the kind of work here, it might take more than that.”
“The most frustrating part is that there are so many cars stuck at the other side and passengers are stranded. You need to take two cars before you get to your destination,” he fumed.
