The Ghana police has cautioned Ghanaians who have resorted to attacking workers of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) over the current load-shedding exercise to desist from such acts.
This follows reports of attacks on some workers of the ECG in Nsuta near Mampong over the erratic power outages in the area.
Similar incidents have been recorded in Accra and Tema and the Police have revealed that they have intelligence report that there are plans of more of such attacks.

He further advised people not to take the law in their own hands, adding that “lets us all try in our own small way to listen to the advice given by ECG on how we should conserve power so that we can all help government to remedy this situation.”
Chief Superintendent Yakubo described the attacks on ECG workers as unfortunate incidents.
He then revealed that they have had confirmation that residents in Kumasi are planning a demonstration on Saturday against the ECG.
He said the police will prevent the said demonstration because they failed to give notice to the Police.
“What we are doing is to ensure that whenever we receive information about any threat we will quickly move in to prevent such incident,” he added.
He disclosed that there has been numerous attacks in different parts of the country including Accra in Lapaz.
He therefore called on ECG officials to report any attack and give information to the police
In a related development an appointment made by a new managerial appointment at the ECG has been met with fierce opposition as workers of the Tema branch of the ECG caused mayhem on Friday.
According to the workers the presidency must explain why the former MD – Ing William Hutton-Mensah was removed.
They also demanded that all heads of agencies on the energy distribution chain which includes the Volta River Authority (VRA) and Ghana Grid Company Limited (GRIDCo) should be sacked.
