The National Service Secretariat (NSS) has effected the payment of outstanding allowances to immediate past national service personnel.
It has therefore directed service personnel to contact their respective district assemblies of the Scheme for payment of their outstanding claims.

Investigations revealed that about GHC 7.9 million was paid to 22,612 to non-existent national service persons in more than 100 districts in July 2014.
The Former Executive Director of the NSS, Alhaji Alhassan Mohammed Imoro was subsequently arrested and was remanded.
He was however granted bail a GHc90 million bail by an Accra High Court .
A press statement issued signed by the acting Director of the Secretariat , Mr. Kpessah Whyte reminded all personnel that they would be “required to complete the declaration forms which must also be duly endorsed by their supervisors before they are paid their allowances.”
